It might be the 82 Crossfire but these still look great.

Saw one for sale in a used lot the other day when I was in the city with my Dad, so we stopped and checked it. Tried to get him to trade in his Envoy for it. He didn’t think my Mom would approve. She’s literally the only person in the family who likes the Envoy...

It’s human nature to gripe about the emmissions-choked Malaise Era and how it destroyed even the high end performance cars of the day, save for their looks. But there’s always the counterpoint that it’s an easily solvable problem since you can basically plug a modern small block into the engine bay with comparatively no hassle.
Isn’t that the way to go nowadays? Pick up one of these beauties in fair, but not really running condition, and then find a donor post-2000 LS to drop in it? Instant DD-able classic.

One day I'd love to take a late C3 Corvette and retro mod it. Throw a modern engine, transmission, and brakes in it. I think they look fantastic, they were just always held back by the late 70s powertrains.

I like the fact that late C3s can be had in serviceable condition for under $5 grand. And rebuildable Vortec Max 6-liter truck engines are damn near plug and play with the LS swap wiring kits available now.

Interesting. I always liked the look of the 71/72

That would be the dream. But I have no where near the practice or the space to do that. But one of these bodies with a modern 6 speed and a good set of brakes would make me very happy.

Totally agree. You just have to have the money and means to do it

I know that, and you know that, and dad knows that, and my sister (who was with is) knows that, but when the Envoy is the only vehicle your dad ever owned that your mom likes, well... you end up cruising around in a hockey-mom-mobile. I also suspect the Envoy makes for a much better tow vehicle too... I’ve hauled three Jeeps with it so far.

Yes!! And quite a sleeper too. Everyone will assume its still a sun-200 HP smog machine.

Whats funny though is that the Envoy would probably outrun the Ceasefire Vette lol

The stock brakes are pretty good on those actually. 4 piston calipers.
Buuuut, it wouldnt hurt to upgrade a couple things if your gonna be adding another 400 HP to it.

Only a 4.2. The Envoy may make more power, but I’m pretty sure my MJ is faster. All that extra weight the Envoy’s packing around coupled with tall(ish) gears and tall(ish) tires doesn’t make for a quick ride.

Oh, why didnt you just say Twister truck.
I still doubt it would outrun a Crossfire Vette or an Envoy. Especially with a 5.3

Why didn’t I say twister truck? Is a C5 a Stingray?
...a Comanche isn’t a J-truck.

Too specific.
A C5 is a Vette.
Truck Jeep is Twister Jeep.
“Did you know Jeep made a truck?”
“No I didnt, what does it look like?”
“Remember the yellow truck from Twister?”
